Obi Mourns Iwuanyanwu, Calls Him A Bridge Builder
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general elections, described Ohanaeze President General Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s death as shocking, stating that he was a bridge builder who will be remembered for many positive qualities.
According to a statement signed by Yunusa Tanko, POMR Spokesman, Obi wrote on his X handle, “I am deeply saddened by the death of an elder statesman and President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.”Everyone who knew him was devastated to learn of his death.
“He was more than a father to many people; he was a bridge builder who was dedicated to the country’s peaceful coexistence. He was undeniably a deeply patriotic Nigerian whose desire for justice, equity, progress, and national development went beyond tribal boundaries.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu was a respected father figure who always provided sound advice. I remember visiting him at the hospital on the 11th of this month with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide’s Secretary General, Ambassador Okey Emuchey. He assured me that he would be fine soon and would continue to contribute to the country’s progress. I had continued to pray for his quick and complete recovery until I received the tragic news of his death.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the entire nation on the passing of this revered patriarch. May God give us the strength to bear his sad loss and grant him eternal peace”.
