Klopp Calls For Replay After VAR Mistake In Liverpool’s Defeat To Tottenham
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken further about the VAR and PGMOL fallout that has continued since the weekend in his latest press conference.
Liverpool were on the wrong end of an incorrect offside call that cost them a Luis Diaz goal on Saturday in their Premier League match against Tottenham. Klopp has now called for a replay in his Wednesday press conference.
Jurgen Klopp has said the “outcome should be a replay” after the VAR controversy in Tottenham’s victory over his Liverpool side in the Premier League.
The Reds were reduced to 10 men with the scoreline goalless when forward Luis Diaz appeared to have given the visitors the lead, but saw the goal overturned for offside.
The refereeing body made in the moment, and in his immediate response to the controversy, which has continued to make headlines since the match ended.
Speaking in his latest media appearance ahead of Liverpool’s match with Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, Klopp said: “They didn’t do it on purpose and we should not forget that. Yes, it was a mistake. An obvious mistake.
“I think there would have been solutions. I think the outcome should be a replay. Probably won’t happen. As far as I can remember, something like that never happened, that’s why I think a replay should be played.
“The audio didn’t change it at all because I was not really interested in why things happen. I saw the outcome, I saw a goal, and I saw it didn’t count. It’s really important that we deal with it in a proper way.”
After making the point that the officials did not make the mistake on purpose, Klopp continued to say that he was “not angry with any of them, not at all” with Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou having had a similar perspective after the match.
“I’m not angry with any of them, not at all,” Klopp said. “We should not go for them. They made a mistake and I’m sure they felt horrible that night.
