The call came from the PDP stakeholders from Abia North barely a week after Ohuabunwa won the PDP primaries for the race for the senatorial seat.

The decision to back and canvass for massive support for Ohuabunwa was taken during stakeholders meeting at Abam, where they urged Senator Ohuabunwa to make himself available again to serve the zone, assuring him of their unalloyed support.

“We went through extensive consultations to sensitise our party members by presenting our resume, re-emphasising our character and assuring you all of our tenacity and seriousness to make our great party and the good people of Abia North proud when we regain our Senatorial Mandate come 2023 General Elections,” Ohuabunwa said in the statement.

The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health Care and Communicable Disease congratulated those who contested with him for their courage and dexterity, urging them to support him and pleaded with those who felt offended against him for any reason to forgive him so that the party could forge ahead.

“We need the unity of all to achieve victory. And whichever way we see it, this past PDP Senatorial Primary was an intra-party (in-house) family affair to choose a flag bearer. We should therefore see it as a friendly contest no matter what. It is a win for our Party and we should as such not harbor any ill intentions or ill will.

“Without restraint, I also use this opportunity to thank all critical Stakeholders, resolute PDP Executives, Delegates and the wonderful people of Abia North for an encouraging outing”.

Similarly, Senator Ohuabunwa’s campaign organisation, the Follow Better Campaign Organisation, has described his emergence as a good omen for Abia North.

The Organisation in a statement signed by its Director-General, DG, Dr. Ndubuisi Eke, described Ohuabunwa’s emergence as the resurrection of hope for Abia North, which according to it, has been relegated to the background in the political equilibrium of the country since 2019 when he exited the Senate.

The Organisation assured Abia North that with the emergence of Ohuabunwa as the PDP flag bearer for the 2023 senatorial poll, victory is guaranteed for the PDP.
