Iyabo Ojo Reminisces On How Funke Akindele’s Mother Saved Her Children’s Lives
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has joined her colleague, Funke Akindele, in remembering her late mother.
Kemi Filani reported that Funke had taken to Instagram to mark the third anniversary of her late mother’s passing. Akindele described her late mother as a selfless queen and noted that her mother’s teachings, knowledge, and discipline shaped who she is today. She promised to continue making her proud and thanked her for providing them with the best education and instilling self-belief.
In the comment section, Iyabo attested to Funke’s mother’s good heart, recalling how she treated Festus and Priscilla when they were little. Iyabo shared that she thought she would lose them both, but her mother said, “No, not on her watch.”
The mother of two stated that despite her frequent disagreements with Funke, her mother never ceased calling and praying for her.
In other news, late last year, Iyabo visited her late mother’s graveside on the fifth anniversary of her passing. She noted that the pain still feels fresh, expressed how much she misses her mother, and prayed for her to watch over her siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandson.
Iyabo Ojo lost her beloved mother, Mrs. Victoria Olubunmi Fetuga, on Saturday, November 21, 2020. She shared the sad news on her Instagram page with a touching tribute to her mother.
In 2021, she hosted an extravagant party in Lekki, Lagos, for her mum’s one-year remembrance. The party was attended by the crème de la crème of society, from A-list stars to highly celebrated figures.
The event took place at the prestigious Monarch Event Centre. City People reported that the actress spent millions of Naira on her mum’s remembrance party.
Over 30 food and drink vendors were on standby to serve the guests. From local to continental dishes, there was a wide array of options available. Kwam1, Lanre Teriba, and Samson Egbeyemi were the musicians hired to entertain the attendees.
Celebrities such as Yinka Quadri, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, Anita Joseph, Blessing CEO, Toyin Lawani, Peggy Ovire, and more graced the remembrance party.
Marking her mother’s 71st posthumous birthday in 2022, the famous actress visited her mother’s grave with her entourage. Describing her mother as a guiding angel, she revealed how much she misses her.
