Bayelsa: Diri’s Commissioner, Supporters Quit APC, Join NDC

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Bayelsa West, and former Local Government Chairman, Hon. Michael Magbisa, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to pitch tent with the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

Magbisa, who made the formal declaration on Wednesday at the NDC state Secretariat in Yenagoa, the city capital, disclosed that he left the ruling APC because of a lack of ideology in the affairs of the party.

He stated that he is now a free man and can have restful night sleep after he made up his mind to leave a party that destroys destiny and life of politicians, adding that there are so many people who were tired of the internal running of the APC but not courageous enough to leave.

His words, “Today, I am leaving the APC because I don’t like their ideology. This isn’t a party, but a place where destiny and people’s lives are destroyed. How can you be in place and only one person decides what happens? I formally resign as a commissioner, and there’s no going back because I didn’t forget or miss anything.”

I have with me here a coalition of NGOs, numbering about five thousand, members of PDP, APC, and LP, and we are not just supporters of Dickson’s leadership style; we are believers.

Nobody should be deceived anymore; the future of NDC is bright, and that is why we are here to work together and make it count. Since I joined the APC, I haven’t slept well, and have no freedom at all, but I know from now on I will be as free as the bird.

NDC is not up to 3 Months, but we are taking over gradually; thousands of people will join us from the other party soon because I have been rightly informed. Some are just there for the financial benefits, since I have led the way, they will soon join.

For those whose salaries were stopped because of your support and affiliation with the party, we will soon restore that.

Receiving the defectors, Bayelsa State Chairman of NDC, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, stated that the NDC remains the alternative to all other opposition parties in the country, adding that the NDC remains the only party that is considerate and has a seat for every level of individual and politicians.

He enjoined the people to emulate the political style of the newly converted Commissioner, who he described as a loyal politician with conviction and courage, noting that he has shown that people shouldn’t move with their belly but with their heads.

“I commend Magbisa, who has taken the courage to join a course that he believes in. He has shown courage and conviction. He has taught us what loyalty means, he has shown us how to be free despite little gains, I enjoin us to emulate him, he is a shining example as a loyal and fine politician.”

We also thank the leader and founder of our great party for the courage to lead us transparently, which has brought us to this point today.
