Wife Of Anti-Child Marriage Activist Missing After Attack In Port Harcourt
By Chuks Eke*
Onitsha, Anambra State – Mr. Nnamdi Jerome Nnaji, a banker and anti-child marriage activist, has made a desperate plea for help in finding his missing wife, Mrs. Sandra Nnamdi Nnaji.Mrs. Nnaji went missing from a private hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on October 13, 2024, after an alleged attack by suspected Niger Delta militants.
Mr Nnaji described a harrowing ordeal in a press release issued yesterday. He claimed that his wife was attacked at Eleme Market in Port Harcourt and narrowly escaped death with the assistance of a crowd.
Nonetheless, the attack was not an isolated incident. MrNnaji claims that the militants then declared her “wanted,” escalating their threat against her.
He detailed a history of attacks on his wife, claiming that in 2023while living in Maiduguri, Borno State, she was repeatedly targeted by Boko Haram insurgents because of her outspoken opposition to child marriage.
This, he claims, prompted their relocation to Port Harcourt to fto lee the violence. The move, however, proved ineffective.
Mrs Nnaji was hospitalised following the attack in Port Harcourt on October 13th.
However, she later disappeared from the hospital, leaving her husband and family with no information about her whereabouts or condition.
Mr Nnaji stated that hospital authorities have been unable to explain her disappearance.
While the family has reported the incident to the police, who are reportedly investigating, Mr Nnaji is still deeply concerned for his wife’s safety and well-being.
.
He asked security agencies and the public for help in finding her. He was unsure whether she was alive or had been abducted.
The statement concludes with a heartfelt plea, emphasising the family’s distress and the critical need to locate Mrs Nnaji.
