Last weekend, Warri in Delta State came alive with celebration, gratitude, and an outpouring of joy as the family of Prince Olatunji Olusoji, Chairman of Grosvenor Global Services, was joined by family and friends for an unforgettable child dedication and thanksgiving service. The event, held at Christ Embassy Church Bowen Avenue and culminating in a grand reception, was not just a celebration of new life but a testament to resilience, faith, and the unwavering power of hope.

From the moment guests stepped into the glamourous atmosphere of Bowen Hall venue of the occasion, it was clear that this was no ordinary Sunday gathering. The air buzzed with excitement and good cheer as the church received an impressive array of personalities—friends, family, captains of industry, and dignitaries, including the Leader himself, Chief James Ibori, whose presence on any occasion oftentimes is a highlight; this time offering reverence and excitement to the already spirited atmosphere.

For a while, I wondered why guests hung about outside in groups, greeting and catching up while others were seated with church service proceedings already started, well sort of. I mean, it’s a Sunday service, right? Although the majority of the people in attendance were visiting guests, the religious me was still quite curious until the atmosphere changed at the arrival of someone. Suddenly the guests were now interested in entering the hall and being ushered to their seats. Oh, I get it now; of course, it had to be Chief James Ibori arriving. It was as if the thanksgiving service never really got started until he arrived, even the Pastor of service had to pause to acknowledge his entrance amidst stretched necks, smiles and approving gazes all over the congregation. This speaks of a man well appreciated and loved, everyone seemed pleased he came.

There was a pleasant change in the pace of proceedings as the atmosphere shifted to a new level of excitement when Chief James Ibori arrived. His entrance and subsequent acknowledgement were met with cheers and pleased faces. The church pastor, who I presume is not a native of Delta State judging from how she spoke and my perception of her personality from where I sat, took time to speak about and acknowledge Chief James Ibori’s enduring legacy in the state. She wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass without reliving the positive impacts he made as Governor of Delta State, and rightly so. Indeed no Governor has matched the development and empowerment strides of Chief James Ibori, and every accolade and encomium uttered in his honor was met with cheers of approval and agreement by the congregation. Chief James Ibori, in his characteristic humility, acknowledged the acknowledgement with a warm smile and a subtle wave. His presence, combined with the joyous occasion, created a euphoric atmosphere that lingered throughout the service.

Child dedication thanksgiving services are often laced with heart-melting testimonies by the celebrants. Hearts and hands were even more lifted to God in gratitude as Prince Olatunji Olusoji and his wife shared theirs. Fighting back a flow of tears, Mrs Olusoji, whose radiant smile and emotional words moved everyone present, shared how they had been married for five years without the crowning blessing of a child, and surely it was not for want of trying. The couple had faced unimaginable heartbreak, enduring six miscarriages before welcoming their miracle baby who is aptly named Tifeoluwa Oluwakayode Ivan Olatunji- Olusoji.

Overwhelmed with joy, Mrs. Olusoji struggled to find the words to capture her gratitude. Theirs was a testimony of God’s faithfulness and answered prayers. The congregation periodically erupted in cheers, claps, and shouts of “Hallelujah!” as they expressed gratitude to God. The service was such a glamorous one that one would think three weddings were ongoing at the same time.

The same and even more can be said of the reception after the church service. The celebration continued at a spectacular venue in Warri, where a lavish reception awaited the guests. The expansive hall was a feast for the eyes, decorated with beautiful colours, symbolizing new beginnings and gratitude. Tables overflowed with gourmet dishes and drinks, while the sound of music filled the air.

Once again, Chief James Ibori’s presence became a focal point. The Master of Ceremonies took a moment to recount how Chief Ibori’s leadership and mentorship had positively influenced lives, using Prince Olatunji Olusoji as a prime example of his impact. Guests nodded in agreement, applauding the former Governor’s contributions to the development of Delta State and, indeed,d, the nation.

In attendance were top dignitaries like Tony Anenih Jr, Chief Monday Igboya ( NDDC Commissioner) and other prominent figures. Everyone was in high spirits dancing, making merry and mingling freely, sharing in the family’s joy. It was a truly inclusive event, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate the birth of baby Tifeoluwa—a child whose name alone speaks volumes about the couple’s faith: “God’s love has brought joy.”

As the afternoon wore on, the dance floor came alive with traditional and contemporary music, bringing young and old to their feet. Toasts were made, and laughter rang out as everyone joined in the family’s joy. It wasn’t just a party—it was a celebration of life, resilience, and the boundless blessings of God.

In a time where despair often dominates the headlines, the Olusoji family’s story serves as a beacon of hope. Baby Tifeoluwa’s dedication wasn’t just a family affair; it was more like a community celebration, a reminder of the power of faith, and a call to never give up, even in the face of overwhelming challenges.

As guests departed with smiles on their faces and memories to cherish, one thing was clear to me: the Olatunji Olusoji family had not only dedicated their child to God but had also rededicated themselves to a life of gratitude and faith. And for everyone present, the occasion was a powerful reminder that God still answers prayers and deserves all our thanksgiving.
