Obi Speaks At Dominican University Convocation, Donates ₦50m

Ibadan, Oyo State – Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the weekend addressed graduating students at Dominican University, Samonda, Ibadan, where he is the Pro-Chancellor.

Obi recounted his experience at the convocation ceremony in a post on X (formerly Twitter), emphasising the value of education and resilience.

Delivery speech as the Pro-Chancellor

Obi used the story of Jonathan Luke Wood, President of the University of California, Sacramento, as a powerful example of overcoming adversity.

Wood’s journey, which included his mother’s imprisonment and numerous school suspensions, culminated in his appointment as the youngest president of a UC university.

Obi used this story to inspire the graduating class to value hard work and determination.

Obi’s speech emphasized the importance of giving back to society, urging students to help Nigeria transition from a consumerist to a productive culture.

He supported education by donating ₦50 million to Dominican University.
