Why PCRC Built Police Transit Camp In Imo, Says Chief Charles Amadi
Danjuma Aboki, the commissioner of police for the Imo State command, has assured that the police will go to any length to improve synergy and collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to strengthen ties with the public.
CP Aboki made this statement during the official grand opening/handover of a PCRC, “Charlvon Transit Camp,” at the Senior Police Officers Mess in Owerri.
Chief Charles Amadi (aka Charlton), the grand patron of the State Chapter of the PCRC, built the Transit Camp.
Aboki stated that the PCRC in the state is steadfastly working to strengthen cordial relationships between the police and members of the public through sensitisation programmes, just as the members have consistently remained unconcerned despite occasional insults from some errant police officers.
The police chief praised the chairman of the committee, Chima Chukwunyere, and the grand patron, Charles Amadi, as patriots who have written their names in gold through selfless service to humanity and urged them to maintain the spirit.
Chief Amadi, who handed over the ultra-modern transit camp to Aboki, explained that it was intended to alleviate some of the challenges that officers and men of the command face.
He praised the state chairman of the PCRC, Chima Chukwunyere, for proposing the structure to him and promised to provide regular support to the command.
Speaking, the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mugaji Ibrahim, represented by the body’s National Organising Secretary, Chukwuaja David, stated that the project’s initiation and completion had positioned the PCRC in the state as a pacesetter in the southeast, which other state chapters hoped to emulate.
“But we will continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminality so that Imolites can rest easy knowing that the police are our friends,” he said.
