Over 4,000 Civil Servants Undergo Screening For 2024 Promotions

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has conducted interviews and screenings for over 4,000 civil servants nationwide as part of its 2024 promotional examination, underscoring its commitment to improving the welfare of public servants.

The comprehensive exercise covers 14 different cadres, including Planning Officers, Executive Officers, Confidential Secretaries, Administrative Officers, Store Officers, Stock Verifiers, Programme/System Analysts, Computer Engineers, Librarians, Library Officers, Procurement Officers, Statistical Officers, Statistician Officers, and Data Processing Officers.

Permanent Secretary of the Career Management Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Fatima Sugra-Mahmoud, emphasised the government’s dedication to staff welfare.

“The Head of Civil Service is passionate about uplifting the welfare of public servants and has made staff welfare a top priority,” she stated.

“This includes ensuring that motivated staff can improve productivity and providing opportunities for career advancement.”

Mrs Sugra-Mahmoud highlighted the government’s initiatives to support civil servants, including the implementation of computer-based tests and the expansion of digital infrastructure to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

She emphasised the importance of these measures in the transition to a digital economy, stating that continued investment in upskilling the workforce and career advancement opportunities are crucial for a more efficient and effective civil service.

The Permanent Secretary acknowledged the progress made in digital transformation, citing the introduction of computer-based tests and the expansion of digital infrastructure as significant steps.
