NDDC Urges Media To Highlight Its Achievements Ahead Of 25th Anniversary
Port Harcourt – The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is calling on the media to help publicize its accomplishments, ahead of its 25th anniversary next year.
Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbukuappealedl during a visit from a delegation of SUN Publishing Company, led by Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief Mr. Onouha Ukeh.
The visit coincided with Ogbuku’s selection as a recipient of the SUN Public Service Award 2024. Ogbuku expressed gratitude for the award, highlighting the transparency of the selection process and praising SUN’s commitment to high standards.
He stated that the recognition motivates the NDDC to continue its development work in the Niger Delta region.

He emphasized the significant impact of NDDC projects in numerous Niger Delta communities, often representing the only visible development initiatives in those areas.
Ukeh, in turn, commended Ogbuku’s leadership, citing several significant projects completed in May 2024 across Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, and Ondo states. These included road and bridge construction, as well as electricity infrastructure improvements. Further praise was directed at the NDDC’s revitalization of healthcare programs, providing over 20,000 surgeries and medical care to 45,000 patients. The continuation of the Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship Programme, benefiting 2,700 students, and the installation of over 7,000 solar-powered streetlights across the region were also highlighted as key achievements. Ukeh also noted Ogbuku’s efforts to improve administrative efficiency and transparency within the NDDC.
