AfroFlavour Brings Taste Of Africa To Texas With December Food Festival
Katy, Texas – Following successful food festivals in Manchester, UK, and Maryland, USA, AfroFlavour is bringing its celebration of pan-African cuisine to Texas.
On December 28th, Toddy Oaks in Katy, Houston will host a vibrant event showcasing the diverse tastes, traditions, and artistry of the African continent.
This event aims to contribute to AfroFlavour’s ambitious goal of boosting the global African food industry to a $30 billion annual revenue by 2035.
The festival promises a feast for the senses. Attendees can expect a wide array of traditional and modern African dishes, a bustling marketplace offering African fashion, art, and crafts, and an electrifying lineup of live music and dance performances, including Afrobeat and traditional styles.
A highlight will be the “Jollof Love” contest, a playful competition pitting the Jollof rice specialities of Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria against each other in a head-to-head taste-off judged by attendees.
“We are thrilled to bring the AfroFlavour Food Festival to Katy, Texas,” said Lucky Idike, founder of AfroFlavour.
“Our goal is to create a platform that celebrates African culture, promotes cultural exchange, and fosters community engagement.”
The festival is anticipated to draw a diverse crowd, including Texans, other Americans, and Africans residing in the US.
AfroFlavour encourages Nigerians and other Africans visiting Houston during the holiday season to attend.
While the accompanying African Food Business Conference, a key component of previous festivals aimed at supporting African food entrepreneurs, has been postponed until March 2025, this Texas event will still offer significant networking opportunities.
AfroFlavour emphasises its partnerships with local businesses and its commitment to fostering unity and cultural understanding through food.
Osa Omoruyi, a director of AfroFlavour’s US operations, stated, “We believe that food has the power to bring people together and foster greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
We invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable celebration of African culture and cuisine.”
Tickets for the eight-hour event are available online at http://bit.ly/419Gnf5 and https://bit.ly/3V9bjrW, as well as from several African businesses in Houston.
