Abuja Ready To Host Second China-Africa Economic, Trade Expo From Thursday
Abuja, Nigeria – The second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) is set to commence in Abuja from November 28th to 30th, organisers have announced.
The event, following a successful inaugural African expo in Nairobi earlier this year, promises to be a significant showcase of Chinese engineering technology and a broad range of products from over 100 participating companies.
Held at the Abuja Trade & Convention Centre, the expo, themed “China and Africa Joining Hands for a Better Future,” will feature a packed schedule of events.
The opening ceremony, commencing at 10:00 AM on November 28th, will be followed by the China-Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum (Nigeria).
This forum will focus on opportunities and challenges in infrastructure development, exploring topics such as connectivity, innovative financing, sustainable development, and business transformation.
An afternoon session, the China-Africa Business & Healthcare Matchmaking Conference (3:00 PM – 5:30 PM), will connect leading Hunan enterprises with African chambers of commerce, investment agencies, and businesses.
Key sectors highlighted include healthcare, new energy, manufacturing, construction materials, textiles, fisheries, and infrastructure.
A major highlight will be an exhibition showcasing engineering technology from both Nigeria and China, spanning nine distinct areas: New energy, Architecture (building hardware), Machinery (construction machinery & agricultural equipment), power transmission and transformation, Home Appliances & Furniture, Manufacturing, Pan-infrastructure, Circular Economy, and a Comprehensive Area.
This exhibition will run throughout the expo.
The organising committee, comprising over eight agencies affiliated with Hunan Province, China, and the Nigerian Federal Trade Agency, confirmed all preparations are complete.
Previous CAETE events have demonstrated significant success, with the third session in Changsha, Hunan, in June 2023, resulting in 120 signed projects valued at $10.3 billion.
The Nairobi expo in May 2024 saw 43 signed projects worth $1.402 billion. Organisers expect this Abuja event to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa.
