Air Peace Bolsters Safety Culture With Boeing, Cranfield University Partnership
Lagos, Nigeria – Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, has significantly enhanced its safety culture through a collaborative five-day training program with Boeing’s Global Learning Institute (BGLI) and Cranfield University.
The “Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence” program, held recently, brought together Air Peace’s executive and management teams for intensive classroom training designed to improve safety leadership skills and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
The partnership, born from a shared commitment to aviation safety, saw Air Peace’s leadership undergo a comprehensive curriculum blending theoretical knowledge with practical application.
The programme, facilitated by experts from Boeing and Cranfield University, focused on equipping participants with advanced tools and strategies for effective safety leadership.
Harry Magui, Senior Organisational Consultant and Programme Manager at BGLI, highlighted Boeing’s dedication to supporting continuous learning within its aviation partners.
He praised Air Peace’s commitment to safety, stating that the program aimed to help the airline “harness more opportunities in the future.”
Professor Graham Braithwaite, Head of Aerospace at Cranfield University, emphasized the program’s tailored approach, ensuring the training directly addressed Air Peace’s specific challenges and resulted in impactful, real-world projects.
Dr Fabian Steinmann, Lecturer in Organisational Resilience and Change at Cranfield echoed this sentiment, highlighting the opportunity to share global best practices and adapt them to Air Peace’s operations.
The program was divided into two phases. The initial phase focused on aligning Air Peace’s operational insights with the program’s objectives through discussions led by Cranfield University faculty.
The second phase provided direct access to experts, equipping participants with advanced tools and strategies.
Post-training, participants were tasked with implementing their learnings within their teams.
Air Peace Safety Manager, Captain Godfrey Ogbogu, emphasized the program’s importance in reinforcing existing knowledge and exposing the airline to new learning avenues within the ever-evolving aviation industry.
He stressed that the partnership has fostered a more resilient and innovative workforce, better equipped to handle future challenges.
The programme concluded with two follow-up review sessions to ensure ongoing skill development and project advancement, solidifying Air Peace’s commitment to prioritising safety at all levels of the organisation.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening safety standards and operational excellence within Air Peace and the Nigerian aviation sector as a whole.
