Over 100 Chinese Companies To Showcase Technology At Abuja Trade Expo
Abuja, Nigeria A major trade expo focusing on Chinese engineering technology and broader economic cooperation is set to take place in Abuja from November 28th to 30th.
Over 100 Chinese companies will participate in the event, the second of its kind in Africa following a successful expo in Nairobi earlier this year.
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), hosted at the Abuja Trade & Convention Centre, carries the theme “China and Africa Joining Hands for a Better Future.”
Organised by a group including over eight agencies affiliated with China’s Hunan Province and the Nigerian Federal Trade Agency, the expo aims to foster stronger trade and investment ties between the two continents.
The event will feature a range of activities, including:
- Opening Ceremony and China-Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum (Nigeria): This forum, starting at 10:00 am on November 28th, will address key challenges and opportunities in infrastructure development, focusing on connectivity, innovative financing, sustainability, and technological upgrades.
- China-Africa Business & Healthcare Matchmaking Conference: Scheduled from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm on November 28th, this conference will connect Hunan-based enterprises with African counterparts, facilitating collaborations in healthcare, new energy, manufacturing, and other sectors.
- Exhibition of Chinese Engineering Technology: A three-day exhibition will showcase products in new energy, construction materials, machinery, power transmission, home appliances, and general infrastructure. Seven dedicated exhibition areas will highlight these sectors.
The organisers highlight the success of previous CAETE events, including the third session in Changsha, China, which saw 120 signed projects worth US$10.3 billion and over 1,700 exhibitors.
The Nairobi expo in May 2024 also yielded significant results, with 43 signed projects totalling US$1.402 billion.
This Abuja expo promises to be a significant platform for strengthening Sino-African economic partnerships, particularly in the critical area of engineering technology and infrastructure development.
The organisers expect the event to generate substantial investment and trade opportunities for both Chinese and Nigerian businesses.
