NDDC Chairman’s Social Media Accounts Hacked In Impersonation Scam
Port Harcourt, Nigeria –The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a warning to the public regarding a sophisticated impersonation scam targeting its Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie.
Fraudsters have successfully hacked Mr. Ebie’s Instagram account and cloned his Facebook page, using them to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
According to a press statement released today by the NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the perpetrators are leveraging the compromised accounts and the NDDC’s name and logo to circulate dubious business proposals.
These fraudulent schemes aim to dupe members of the public while simultaneously damaging the reputation of the NDDC and its leadership.
The NDDC has alerted law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and apprehend the criminals.
The public is urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid engaging with any individuals or entities claiming to represent the NDDC or its officials through these compromised accounts.
Any transactions undertaken with these imposters are at the individual’s own risk, and the NDDC will not be held liable for any resulting losses.
While efforts are underway to regain control of the hacked accounts, the NDDC advises the public to verify any communications through official channels.
Individuals with legitimate business dealings with the NDDC are urged to cross-check information on the commission’s official website (www.nddc.gov.ng) and its verified social media accounts. Suspicious online activities should be reported to the appropriate authorities.
