Abuja, Nigeria – A new political party, the Allied Conservative Congress (ACC), has emerged in Abuja, vowing to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 elections.

The party, launched during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, promises a return to conservative governance principles, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation.

Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, National Secretary of the ACC, outlined the party’s platform, emphasizing a commitment to restoring national security, economic prosperity, and equity.

He criticized the current government for failing to address issues of insecurity, poverty, and a lack of public trust in the judiciary.

“The state of the nation is dire,” Lawal declared.  “Patriotism is lacking, there’s confusion in governance, and the country is buffeted by insecurity and poverty.  The ACC is on a rescue mission.”

The ACC intends to differentiate itself from the established parties – the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party (LP) – by offering a fresh approach based on what it describes as the values of Nigeria’s First Republic: patriotism, morality, and the rule of law.

The party advocates for significant judicial reform, citing a need to rebuild public confidence eroded by perceived miscarriages of justice.

While Lawal remained tight-lipped about specific policy details, he stressed the ACC’s commitment to participatory democracy and a focus on national interest over partisan politics.

He confirmed that the party is actively seeking registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The NEC meeting concluded with members signing a Code of Conduct and Oath of Allegiance, signifying their commitment to the party’s goals.

The ACC’s emergence adds a significant new dynamic to the already vibrant Nigerian political landscape and promises a challenging contest for the ruling party in the upcoming elections.

The party’s success will hinge on its ability to garner widespread support and effectively translate its conservative vision into a winning electoral strategy.
