Ebonyi Prepares For Senator Tinubu’s Arrival, Unveiling Of Chuba Okadigbo Airport Runway
Abakaliki, Ebonyi State – The Ebonyi State capital is abuzz with preparations as Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, is set to arrive in Abakaliki tomorrow, Friday.
The visit will culminate in the commissioning of the upgraded runway and other facilities at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport.
The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu, confirmed the state’s readiness following a routine security inspection by the DSS and other operatives.
“We are fully prepared for the commissioning,” she stated.
The commissioning of the new runway marks the official recommencement of full flight operations at the airport.
Commissioner Obichukwu emphasised the significance of the project, highlighting the newly asphalted runway as the “best and longest in the South East region of Nigeria.”
She encouraged travellers to utilise the airport, especially during the upcoming Christmas season.
“This is a major milestone for Ebonyi State,” said Obichukwu. “We are proud to offer a modern, safe, and efficient airport to our citizens and visitors.”
She commended the efforts of Governor Francis Nwifuru in ensuring the completion of the runway to international standards.
The airport, named after the late former Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo, is expected to play a significant role in boosting economic activity and tourism in the region.
With the new runway in place, the airport is poised to attract more airlines and flights, offering greater connectivity and accessibility to Ebonyi State and its surrounding communities.
