Obi Renews Commitment To Democracy, Campaigns For Labour Party Candidate In Ondo State
Akure, Ondo State – Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his dedication to democratic principles in Nigeria, amidst widespread criticism of the electoral process.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle, Obi expressed his unwavering belief in democracy, highlighting his recent road trip to Ondo State to campaign alongside Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Hon. Sola Ebiseni.
“Notwithstanding the myriads of challenges plaguing our electoral system and the unsettling criticisms shadowing recent elections at all levels, I remain steadfast in my commitment to democracy in Nigeria,” Obi wrote.
“It is this conviction that propelled me to travel by road to Ondo State yesterday to campaign alongside our Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Hon. Sola Ebiseni.”
Obi expressed confidence in Ebiseni’s competence and capacity to lead Ondo State effectively, citing his interactions with the candidate and his role as the Afenifere Secretary.
He highlighted Ebiseni’s belief in a Nigeria built on fairness, equity, and justice.
“I urge the people to vote against transactional politics, which has thrown up the worst in us as our leaders and has led to widespread misgovernance,” Obi emphasised.
“Despite the current challenges, I remain hopeful that committed, capable leadership can and will turn things around. A new Nigeria is possible!”
Obi’s campaign for Ebiseni further solidifies his commitment to promoting the Labour Party’s vision at the state level, even as he continues to engage in national political discourse.
His call for voters to reject transactional politics and embrace a new vision for Nigeria resonates with his previous campaign message of “taking back our country” and underscores his continued advocacy for positive change.
