NSCDC Cracks Down On Oil Thieves In Abia, Impounds 20,000 Liters Of Crude

Umuahia, THE NEWSHAUS – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dealt a blow to oil thieves operating in Abia State, arresting five suspects and impounding approximately 20,000 litres of crude oil siphoned from a vandalised pipeline.

The operation, which took place in the Umielechi/Izam community, was conducted by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) acting on a directive from the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, who has vowed zero tolerance for vandalism and crude oil theft.

According to a statement released by NSCDC National Public Relations Officer Afolabi Babawale, the CG SIS Commander, Commandant Appolos Dandaura, led the operation which involved a midnight raid based on credible intelligence.

The suspects, who were attempting to escape on motorcycles, were apprehended in the Obuzor Asa axis of Ukwa West Local Government Area.

The apprehended suspects are:

  • Daniel Augustine (20 years)
  • Moses Friday (23 years)
  • Igboshe Musua (42 years)
  • Sadiq Yunusa (28 years)
  • Dozie Ugo (33 years)

Along with the stolen crude oil, which was packaged in cellophane bags, the NSCDC also recovered two Dalong Super Wolf motorcycles, a Qlink 150-ES Electric start motorcycle, and a Nasara Super D-S 150 motorcycle.

Commandant Dandaura, reiterating the CG’s directive, stressed the NSCDC’s commitment to relentlessly combating vandalism and oil theft. He emphasised the Corps’ dedication to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure across the nation.
