MUSWEN Donates N50 Million To Flood Victims In Maiduguri
Maiduguri, THE NEWSHAUS – The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has shown solidarity with flood victims in Maiduguri, donating N50 million to aid in rehabilitation efforts.
A four-member delegation, led by MUSWEN President Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, visited the state capital on [date] to express their condolences and provide the financial support.
The delegation, which included Prof. Muslih ‘Tayo Yahya, Executive Secretary of MUSWEN; Alhaji Y.K.O. Abdulkareem, and Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, met with Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, who received the donation on behalf of Governor Babagana Zulum. The Governor described the flood disaster as an act of God.
During a visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin El – Kanemi, MUSWEN President Oladejo highlighted the devastation caused by the September 10th flood, emphasizing its impact on residents already struggling from years of insurgency.
He stressed the need for unity and support, quoting the Quran, “Muslims are One single brotherhood… be mindful of your duty to Allah, so He may show you Mercy.”
“We feel your pain; we stand with you in this difficult time,” Oladejo declared, adding that the flood’s impact on lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure is heartbreaking.
He expressed hope for the restoration of peace and urged continued prayers for mercy and forgiveness.
The Shehu of Borno thanked the delegation for their visit and the generous donation, acknowledging the devastating losses caused by the flood. He described the event as the will of Allah.
The delegation’s visit demonstrates the spirit of unity and compassion within the Muslim community, highlighting the importance of supporting those affected by natural disasters.
This donation is expected to provide essential assistance to flood victims in Maiduguri, aiding in their recovery and rebuilding efforts.
