Akwa Ibom State Launches Arise Youth Employment Portal To Tackle Unemployment
Uyo, THE NEWSHAUS – Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially launched the Arise Youth Employment Portal on Monday, taking a significant step towards addressing youth unemployment.
The digital platform, which connects job seekers with opportunities across multiple sectors, is an important part of the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment and poverty reduction.
Speaking at the launch event held at the Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, Governor Eno highlighted the portal’s role in fulfilling his campaign promise to provide gainful employment for the state’s youth.
“The Arise Youth Employment Portal is a one-stop shop for all employment-related activities in Akwa Ibom,” the Governor explained. “Job opportunities are segmented based on skill sets, and all employers of labor, from the civil service to the private sector, are required to utilize this platform.”
The portal will facilitate a range of services, including:
Job postings: Employers can advertise job openings across various sectors.
Skill testing: Aptitude and skills tests will be conducted online, particularly for those seeking civil service positions.
Transparency and fairness: A State Labour Committee will oversee the employment process, ensuring transparency and fairness in recruitment.
Youth empowerment schemes: The portal will serve as a hub for various youth empowerment programs, including business support and educational grants.
The governor also emphasised the importance of showcasing Akwa Ibom’s diverse talent pool, urging private sector businesses, particularly those working with the state government, to utilise the portal.
He revealed that several key roles, including 200 Health/Safety Monitors and 3,000 positions for the Ibom Community Watch, will be filled through the portal.
To further combat unemployment, Governor Eno announced the upcoming establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Bureau of Statistics to gather reliable data on job creation and government interventions.
The Arise Youth Employment Portal is expected to streamline the job application process for Akwa Ibom’s youth, promote transparency in recruitment, and ultimately contribute to a brighter future for the state’s next generation.
