NDDC Lauds City Chambers For Supporting New Niger Delta Chamber Of Industry
Benin, THE NEWSHAUS – The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has praised the support of city chambers of commerce in the region for their collaboration with the newly established Niger Delta Chamber of Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA).
During a sensitisation programme in Benin, the NDDC Executive Director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai, highlighted the vital role of the chambers in fostering the growth of small-scale businesses in the Niger Delta.
Represented by the NDDC Director of Commercial and Industrial Development, Dr. Godwin Nosiri, Antai stated that the programme, held in eight states, has witnessed significant positive feedback and commitments from stakeholders, including city chambers.
“It has been a success story in all the states we have visited,” he said. “The chairmen or presidents of city chambers of commerce in states visited and other stakeholders have been presenting their goodwill messages and also expressing their willingness to collaborate and partner with NDCCITMA.”
The programme, according to Antai, has seen an encouraging turnout, fostering a strong foundation for future collaboration between NDCCITMA and city chambers.
This partnership, he believes, will lead to enhanced business growth, employment opportunities, and improved food security across the region.
He urged the people to have faith in the program, emphasising that the NDCCITMA board members were carefully selected from all nine Niger Delta states to ensure a broad and representative reach.
Antai also commended the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Samuel Ogbuku, for his dedication to the region’s development.
Chief Solomon Edebiri, the Secretary of NDCCITMA, explained that the chamber’s formation aims to accelerate the NDDC’s vision of bolstering businesses in the region from the ground up.
“The idea behind the establishment of NDCCITMA is to help small businesses to grow and the informal sector to thrive,” he said.
“The chamber of commerce will also stand in the gap in enabling small-scale businesses and entrepreneurs to access loans from financial institutions.”
