NDCCITMA To Create Jobs, Boost Businesses In Niger Delta, Says NDDC Boss

Akure, THE NEWSHAUS  – The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) to generate support and support the growth of small businesses in the region.

Speaking at a sensitisation workshop in Akure, NDDC Managing Director Dr Samuel Ogbuku, represented by Hon. Otitoju Atikase, stated that the chamber was born out of the commission’s commitment to addressing the socio-economic and political challenges faced by the Niger Delta people.

According to a press statement from Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director, Corporate Affairs NDDC, Kg una said “As an interventionist agency, we believe that the NDCCITMA initiative will bridge the gap between the NDDC and the people, facilitating job creation, promoting trade, and supporting the growth of nano, small and medium-scale enterprises.”

The NDDC has pledged an N30 billion counterpart fund to support the chamber’s operations and ensure its success.

Dr. Solomon Edebiri, Secretary of the NDCCITMA board, highlighted the initiative’s role in providing mentorship and fostering positive development in the informal sector.

“This is the opportunity the business community has been waiting for,” said Edebiri. “NDCCITMA will be a rallying point, providing guidance and mentorship, and galvanising the informal sector and small business groups yearning for support.”

He emphasised the chamber’s role in facilitating access to soft loans, further empowering small business owners in the Niger Delta region.
