NSCDC Pays Over N2.9bn In Insurance Benefits To Families Of Deceased Personnel, Says Audi

Abuja, THE NEWSHAUS – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has disbursed over N2.9 billion in insurance benefits to the families of 150 officers who died in active service.

The disbursement, which took place at the NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, saw the families of fallen officers receive cheques ranging from N7.1 million to N23.5 million.

Among the beneficiaries was the family of Corps Commander Useni Nauokhi, who died from injuries sustained during an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents in Yobe State. His next of kin received a cheque of N12.9 million.

Other families who received benefits include that of Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Helen Amakiri Omavvayen, who died in active service last year, and Commandant Isaiah Madina, who died in active service in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, commended the fallen officers for their gallantry, highlighting the dangers they face in the fight against insurgency.

He also commended the NSCDC personnel for their dedication and performance during joint operations with other security agencies.

Dr. Audi further highlighted the NSCDC’s achievements in combating security threats, particularly the Safe Schools Initiative which has prevented 103 kidnapper attacks on schools across Nigeria.

The Corps has also successfully destroyed 350 illegal refineries in the south-south region and intercepted 20 trailers loaded with vandalised rail tracks within the past three years.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their support in addressing the welfare of NSCDC personnel, citing the recent promotions of over 3000 personnel as a testament to their commitment.

This significant disbursement of insurance benefits underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, highlighting the sacrifices made by these officers in service to their nation.
