Actress Halima Abubakar Suspended By AGN For Spreading Slanderous Information
Lagos, THE NEWSHAUS – The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken a decisive step against actress Halima Abubakar, suspending her indefinitely for allegedly fueling online gossip and spreading defamatory information about fellow actors, associates, and patrons of the industry.
The suspension, announced on Friday via an official statement on the AGN’s Instagram page, follows an extensive internal investigation that concluded Halima was the source of damaging content, including accusations of extramarital affairs involving prominent figures in Nigerian society.
“Following a thorough investigation by the special Secret Investigation Panel, it was concluded that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind the defamatory information targeting our members, associates, and patrons,” the statement reads.
The AGN emphasised that Halima’s suspension prohibits her from participating in any film or guild-related activities during this period.
She will also face a disciplinary panel to determine further consequences.
This move comes after the guild received numerous complaints about online publications containing unverified and damaging information about its members.
The investigation unearthed a pattern of Halima allegedly leaking information to bloggers, leading to these controversial articles.
The AGN’s statement also revealed that several female members are still under investigation following the recent release of names linked to controversial reports involving high-ranking individuals in Nigerian society.
While the guild commends the investigative panel for its professionalism, it maintains a watchful eye on Halima’s compliance with the suspension order. Any violations could lead to further disciplinary action.
This suspension serves as a strong warning against the misuse of social media to spread damaging information and highlights the AGN’s commitment to protecting its members and ensuring a healthy and respectful environment within the Nigerian film industry.
Halima Abubakar has yet to comment on the allegations or the suspension.
