Obi Gifts Grimard College Of Nursing Bus, ₦5m, Emphasising Focus On Healthcare Training
Anyigba, Kogi State – Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has once again demonstrated his commitment to educational advancement and healthcare development in Nigeria.
During a visit to Grimard College of Nursing Science in Anyigba, Kogi State, Obi presented the institution with a brand new coaster bus and an additional ₦5 million for fuel and logistical needs, fulfilling a promise made just three months prior.
The donation comes as a continuation of Obi’s sustained support for the school. In July, Obi pledged ₦10 million towards Grimard’s accreditation efforts and infrastructure development.
During that visit, the school’s proprietor, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Adaji, Bishop of Idah, highlighted the need for a coaster bus for accreditation purposes, suggesting that a used bus would suffice.
True to his word, Obi went above and beyond, providing a new bus and additional funding to ensure the school’s success.
Addressing the students, Obi urged them to remain focused on their training, emphasising the global demand for skilled nurses and allied healthcare professionals. “Your education is crucial not just for Nigeria, but for the world,” he said.
“Nurses and healthcare workers are in high demand, and you have the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
He assured the students of his continued support, highlighting that Grimard is one of over 22 nursing and midwifery schools that benefit from his annual educational assistance program.
Bishop Adaji, speaking on behalf of the institution, expressed profound gratitude for Obi’s unwavering commitment to education and healthcare. “Obi is not here for political reasons,” the bishop remarked.
“He is here to ensure that education thrives in Nigeria. He wants to see you succeed and lead in the future. Look up to him as a model of integrity in politics.”
The Provost of the school, Mrs. Usman Obonugwa, echoed these sentiments, thanking Obi for his generosity and his ongoing contributions to the development of the institution.
Peter Obi’s donations and visits underscore his dedication to improving educational and healthcare standards across the country.
His commitment to empowering students and fostering a vibrant healthcare sector is a testament to his belief in the potential of Nigerian youth and his vision for a better future.
