Onitsha, Anambra State – Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi today demonstrated his commitment to improving Nigeria’s health and education sectors with a series of visits and donations to institutions in Anambra State.

In a statement on his X handle, Obi outlined his visits to three institutions, totalling N70 million in donations.

Obi’s first stop was the newly launched Shanahan University in Onitsha, where he participated in the commencement ceremony.

Addressing the students, he emphasized the crucial role of education in achieving success, stating that it remains “the surest path to success.”

To support the university’s infrastructure development, Obi made a significant donation of N50 million.

Following the university visit, Obi proceeded to Waterside Midwifery, Onitsha, where he contributed N10 million.

This donation aims to bolster the institution’s training programs and contribute to lowering Nigeria’s alarming infant mortality rates.

Obi’s final stop was the Borromeo School of Nursing Sciences, Onitsha, where he reiterated his belief in the vital role of nursing schools in the country’s healthcare system.

To support the school’s continued efforts, Obi donated another N10 million.

In his statement, Obi stressed the importance of building a stronger society by improving key developmental indicators.

“We must build our society by improving measurable indices of development,” he wrote. “A new Nigeria is POssible through greater education and enlightenment.”

Obi’s visits and donations come as part of his wider commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s health and education sectors, key pillars for national development.

He is scheduled to visit the University of the Niger and Iyienu College of Nursing Sciences in Anambra State in the coming days, further emphasising his dedication to these crucial areas.
