Matawalle Lauds Military For Success Against Bandits, Pledges Continued Support
SOKOTO, NIGERIA – The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has praised the military for its success in neutralizing several high-profile bandit leaders in recent operations.
During a visit to Sokoto State on Friday, Dr. Matawalle commended the Air Component of Joint Operation Hadarin Daji for its “precision and effectiveness,” highlighting the crucial role they play in the fight against insurgency in the North-West.
Dr. Matawalle’s visit included the formal handover of 10 operational vehicles, including 8 Buffalo trucks and 2 Toyota Hilux, to the military.
These vehicles were donated by the Sokoto State Government, a gesture Dr. Matawalle described as “a demonstration of its dedication” to the security of the nation.
He emphasized the significance of the donation, stating that the new fleet will “greatly improve the operational capacity of our forces across the region” and enhance their response capabilities.
The Minister assured the military of the Federal Government’s continued support in the security drive, emphasizing the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North-West. “We will not rest until peace is fully restored,” he declared.
Dr. Matawalle’s visit comes at a time of renewed efforts to combat banditry and other security threats in the region.
The recent neutralization of prominent bandit leaders represents a significant blow to the criminal networks operating in the North-West.
The Minister’s unwavering support for the military and the continued collaboration between the Federal Government and state authorities are seen as critical factors in achieving long-term peace and stability.
