NDDC Launched Chamber Of Commerce To Empower Niger Delta Businesses—Ogbuku
Calabar, Cross River State – The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has taken a significant step towards boosting economic growth in the region with the launch of the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA).
The new chamber, described as a “catalyst for growth” by NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, promises to empower entrepreneurs and businesses across the region.
During a sensitization workshop in Calabar, Ogbuku, represented by the Cross River State Representative on the NDDC Board Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, emphasized the chamber’s crucial role in supporting small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), training young entrepreneurs, and attracting new businesses and technologies to the Niger Delta.
He urged individuals and groups, including the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and both formal and informal businesses, to register with the new Chamber to access the resources and support it offers.
The NDDC believes that the chamber will foster networking opportunities, attract new investments, and ultimately drive economic growth in the region.
The Chairman of NDCCITMA, Ambassador Idaere Ogan, highlighted the chamber’s significance in providing a platform for businesses to access genuine guidance and assistance.
He praised the NDDC’s vision and leadership in establishing the chamber, reiterating its role in implementing the commission’s development mandate for the region.
NDDC Executive Director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai, represented by the NDDC Director, Commercial and Industrial Development, Dr. Godwin Nosiri, emphasized the workshop’s aim in raising awareness about the NDCCITMA and exploring the vast opportunities it presents across the economic spectrum.
He stressed that the chamber would complement the NDDC’s Holistic Opportunity Projects of Engagement (HOPE) initiative, which focuses on providing skills training for young people.
Dr. Solomon Edebiri, Secretary of the NDCCITMA board, lauded the NDDC’s initiative, noting the successful establishment of the chamber as a testament to the commitment and leadership of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
He commended the NDDC’s approach in using the chamber to reach across all business sectors, from informal businesses to large-scale enterprises.
Mr. David Etim, President of the Calabar Chamber of Commerce, urged the NDCCITMA to collaborate with larger industries and establish vocational training centers across the region to further empower young entrepreneurs.
This initiative underscores the NDDC’s commitment to fostering economic growth and providing crucial support for businesses in the Niger Delta.
The chamber’s establishment promises a brighter future for the region, empowering entrepreneurs and businesses to contribute to a more prosperous Niger Delta.
