Labour Party Remains Unified Despite Court Judgment, Obi Assures Supporters
Abuja, Nigeria – Following a recent judgment delivered by an Abuja High Court, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in 2023 has issued a statement urging supporters to remain calm and steadfast in their commitment to the party’s vision for Nigeria.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), Obi, alongside Governor Alex Otti of Abia State and Labour Party officials, confirmed that the party leadership is actively engaging in discussions and consultations to address the implications of the court ruling.
“Yesterday, Governor Alex Otti and I, along with the Caretaker Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, convened to discuss and review recent developments, including the judgment delivered by an Abuja High Court on the same day,” Obi wrote.
“I urge all members of the Labour Party to remain calm and patient as we continue to engage in discussions and consultations.”
The statement emphasized the Labour Party’s commitment to unity and the importance of focusing on the overarching goal of creating a better Nigeria.
“Our goal is to emerge stronger and more unified, standing together as one united front. We must not allow this to divert us from addressing the pressing issues affecting our people today.
“We have always known that the task of creating a new Nigeria that is possible will not come without challenges.”
While the specific nature of the Abuja High Court judgment remains undisclosed, Obi’s statement indicates a potential internal party matter or legal challenge impacting the Labour Party.
However, he assured supporters that the party is actively addressing the situation and remains dedicated to its mission.
This message serves as a reassurance to the Labour Party base, who are actively engaged in promoting the party’s platform and candidate.
The statement reinforces Obi’s commitment to transparency and open communication, offering a sense of stability during a potentially sensitive period.
The Labour Party’s response to this recent development will be closely watched, especially as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
