Super Eagles Set For Crucial AFCON Qualifiers Against Libya In Benina Martyrs Stadium
Lagos, Nigeria – The stage is set for a crucial double-header as Nigeria’s Super Eagles prepare to face Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The first match will be played in Uyo on October 14th at 5 p.m. Nigerian time, with the return leg taking place on October 14th at 8 p.m. in Libya’s Benina Martyrs Stadium. Nigerian time.
Nigeria currently leads Group D with four points from two matches, while Libya is in last place with one point. This makes the upcoming matches crucial for both teams as they compete for a spot in the tournament, which will be held in Morocco.
The Super Eagles proved their dominance in the qualifiers, defeating Benin Republic 3-0 in Uyo on Matchday 1. They followed this up with a goalless draw against Rwanda in Kigali on Matchday 2.
Libya, on the other hand, has struggled, drawing 1-1 at home against Rwanda and suffering a 1-2 defeat to Benin Republic in Abidjan.
The Super Eagles are currently under the guidance of Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who is filling in as the interim head coach.
The NFF is still searching for a permanent replacement after Bruno Labbadia declined the position.
With two victories over Libya, Nigeria could virtually secure their place in the 2025 AFCON.
