NDDC Receives Database For Youth Internship Scheme, Selection Process Underway
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has received the database of applicants for its Youth Internship Scheme, which allows the selection process to begin.
Senate President Chief Godswill Akpabio launched the scheme on August 5th, 2024, with the goal of providing a one-year monthly stipend of N50,000 to 10,000 youths in the Niger Delta.
The scheme’s registration portal closed on August 31, 2024, resulting in an overwhelming response of more than three million applications. This highlights the region’s critical need for opportunities and development.
The NDDC hired Southbridge Consultants to create the database and provide an official breakdown of applicant information.
This information will be used to analyse the scheme and ensure its proper implementation.
To speed up the selection process, Angala Fintech has been appointed as the lead consultant to oversee beneficiary selection at the state and local government levels.
The NDDC Finance Directorate will handle the disbursement of funds to the selected beneficiaries, ensuring that financial support is delivered efficiently throughout the one-year internship.
Engr. Emeka Ani, NDDC’s Director of Information Technology, expressed enthusiasm for the scheme’s potential to empower youth and create long-term change in the region.
He praised Southbridge Consultants for creating a robust database capable of efficiently managing large amounts of data.
The database will not only help to ensure the successful implementation of the current scheme, but it will also be a valuable resource for future youth empowerment programs.
The NDDC’s ambitious initiative demonstrates a commitment to investing in the Niger Delta’s youth, providing them with valuable skills, experience, and financial support to help the region develop.
