Rivers APC Denounces ‘Impersonators’ Claiming To Speak For The Party
The Rivers State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Chief Emeka Beke, has issued a sharp rebuke to a group led by Tony Okocha, accusing them of impersonating the party and spreading false information.
In a press briefing on September 21st, 2024, the APC Committee referred to Okocha and his associates as “impersonators” and “children of Noah who intended to deceive and mislead their father,” emphasising the group’s history of fabricating information.
The statement specifically refers to a recent social media post by the group, which claimed to be making statements about “Gov Sim” (Governor Siminalayi Fubara) and certain judicial pronouncements.
The APC categorically denied the group’s right to speak on behalf of the party.
The statement emphasises the inconsistencies in the group’s claims, citing their previous defection from the PDP to the APC, which they now deny.
It also criticised the group’s celebration of certain court decisions that, according to the APC, were not based on merit.
The APC statement directly responds to the group’s accusations against Governor Fubara, claiming that his administration is working hard in the state and has completed numerous development projects.
The statement invites those outside the state to come to see the positive changes for themselves.
The statement concluded by urging the media to stop referring to Tony Okocha as the Rivers APC’s CTC (Campaign and Technical Committee) Chairman, given the ongoing court case against him.
It also warned the public not to believe any claims made by the group, referring to them as individuals suffering from “superficial sentimentalities” who do not represent the party’s views.
This press release represents the Rivers APC’s clear stance against Tony Okocha and his group, effectively dismissing their statements and emphasising their lack of authority to speak on behalf of the party.
