NDDC Empowers Women, Youths In Niger Delta With Livestock Farming Training
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to regional food security and long-term growth by launching a training and empowerment program for women and youths in livestock farming and agro-processing.
The program, which began in Amukpe, Delta State, aims to provide 200 participants with the skills and knowledge required to become self-sufficient in livestock farming and contribute to regional food security.
Chief Monday Igbuya, the Delta State representative on the NDDC board, emphasised the Commission’s policy of promoting programs that ensure food security and agricultural growth.
He emphasised the value of investing in human capital development in the agricultural sector as a key driver of socioeconomic development.
The training programme covers both livestock farming and agro-processing, giving participants a thorough understanding of the industry.
The programme includes expert resource persons who will provide practical knowledge and technical know-how to ensure the successful implementation of acquired skills.
Recognising the importance of practical application, the NDDC will provide participants with start-up packages to help them get their businesses off the ground.
This assistance will enable them to turn their newly acquired skills into tangible results, fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurial spirit.
The NDDC has also urged state governments in the region to emulate its efforts to empower communities and improve livelihoods.
The Commission believes that such initiatives can make a significant contribution to regional peace and stability.
This training is an important step towards achieving food security and sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
By investing in its people’s future, the NDDC is paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous Niger.
