Nigerian Government Elevates 20,867 Officers In NIS, NSCDC, NCoS, FFS

The Nigerian government has announced the immediate promotion of 20,867 officers to strengthen security personnel across multiple agencies.

The promotions apply to employees of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

This significant advancement in rank is expected to boost morale and strengthen the operational capabilities of these critical security institutions.

Federal Fire Service (FFS) officers received promotions as well.

Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of the Interior, announced the promotion on Friday. He also stated that the government has approved a special promotion for two NCoS officers, four NIS officers, two NSCDC officers, and one FFS officer.

The Minister stated that 5,329 officers were promoted in the Correctional Service and 5,112 in the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Tunji-Ojo, who was represented at the media briefing by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of the Services, stated that 9,937 NSCDC officers and 489 Federal Fire Service officers had been promoted.

He stated that the Inspector/Assistant Superintendent, Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants have been promoted across the Ministry’s four Services.

He also stated that the Board had discussed and approved the monitoring, evaluation, and collaboration with the Services on career development courses organised by the four Services.

Tunji-Ojo stated that the government had considered and approved the implementation of a new training curriculum for federal fire service training institutions.

He also stated that the government had considered and approved a new Scheme of Service for the Federal Fire Service.

The Minister stated that the government intends to complete the 2023/24 Federal Fire Service recruitment process by the end of the month.
