Responding to the devastating floods that have ravaged parts of Borno State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a continuous medical outreach to assist Maiduguri residents affected by the crisis.
According to a press release issued on Friday by Kabiru Ali, Group Captain and Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the initiative was launched on September 11, 2024, at a primary school near the NAF base in Maiduguri.
He stated that this was following the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar’s directive for NAF units in Maiduguri to provide medical assistance and essential relief materials to the affected population.
“The NAF’s outreach aims to meet the survivors’ immediate needs by providing necessary medical care, food, water, and relief supplies.
“Outreach beneficiaries receive free medical consultations, medications, and insecticide-treated mosquito nets.”
According to the statement, “Families in need are also receiving food and water.” Among the notable cases is a woman who gave birth the night before and is receiving specialised care from the medical team.
