The Biafran Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) has warned Southeast governors and leaders against negotiating with the Federal Government for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

Simon Ekpa, the acclaimed Prime Minister of BRGIE, made the announcement on Sunday via his official X handle.

This follows a call from Southeast governors, regional groups, and the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, who recently advocated for Nnamdi Kanu’s release as a panacea for regional peace.

However, BRGIE, led by Ekpa, has warned southeast governors and leaders that negotiations for a political solution and Biafra Liberation lack legitimacy.

According to him, only BRGIE has the legal authority to call for the release of Kanu and Biafra’s declaration.

He stated that those parading in the name of negotiating Nnamdi Kanu’s release are jeopardising Biafra liberation.

“Those selfish politicians and traditional rulers who are now jumping up and shouting about negotiating with Nigeria after sabotaging Biafra’s liberation are warned not to speak again.

“The warning will not be repeated; this is the final warning, and none of you have the authority to speak for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or Biafrans.

“We will not allow anyone to negotiate anything starting tonight (Sunday).

“The Biafra Republic Government in Exile remains the only legitimate entity capable of doing so.

“Those selfish individuals who are now taking centre stage and shouting negotiations should stay away. Biafrans are not joking,” he stated.

Recall that after Southeast governors met in Enugu State last week, the call for Kanu’s release reverberated throughout the media.

In a communique read by Governor Hope Uzodinma following the meeting on July 3, 2024, the governors agreed to meet with President Bola Tinubu to secure Kanu’s release.
