Wike Tells Senator Kingibe: ‘Go Hug A Transformer If You’re Angry About Our Success’, Challenges Her To Win Abuja In 2027
Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has challenged his critics, including Senator Ireti Kingibe, to hang themselves on a transformer.
He was dismayed by a National Assembly member who criticised the FCT Administration’s accomplishments.
Speaking at the start of construction of the Mabushi Terminal on Monday in Abuja, Wike claimed that he and the Minister of State had made significant progress in a short period of time and deserved the praise they had received.
“I overheard someone on Arise this morning, and it was a member of the National Assembly. With all due respect, what you do not know, you do not know; what you do know, you know. It is important to admit when you do not know something so that others can teach you,” Wike began.
Senator Kingibe of the Labour Party, who represents Abuja Federal Capital Territory, was confirmed to be a guest on Arise TV on Monday morning.
Wike, who has been in office for less than eleven months, said. “If you are upset that they are praising us, go hang yourself from a transformer. If we have done well, then we have done well. If we haven’t, then we haven’t. I am proud to say that we have done well in the short time since Mr. President appointed us.”
The Minister challenged Kingibe to consider her contributions to improving the nation’s infrastructure and services. “You mentioned there are no hospitals. What have you done while serving as a legislator? How many bills have you sponsored to improve our educational and healthcare systems? I challenge that legislator: if you are very popular, come run in Abuja in 2027. We will fail you. Do you believe what happened last time will occur again? It will not. Fortunately for me, I am the FCT Minister now, so that is my territory, and I am not afraid.”
Wike emphasised the importance of accepting the truth and not feeling threatened by the Administration’s accomplishments. “We are not begging anyone to be our friend. We have so many friends that we can not carry them all.
“If you are angry that people are praising us, your blood pressure will skyrocket by next year because the praises will be overwhelming,” the minister boasted.
“If you are upset because they are praising us, go hang yourself from a transformer. “This project will create jobs; please support the company so that we can complete it within the timeframe specified. Most contractors enjoy community problems because they cause the contract to drag on and allow them to introduce variations. There will be no variation here; everything has been considered.
