Nnamdi Kanu: Buhari Speaks With Hon.Aguocha As Former President Commends Lawmaker’s Humility

Hon. Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituencies, recently paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his home in Daura, Katsina State.

Aguocha went to President Buhari to seek his intervention and support for a political dialogue aimed at resolving the issues surrounding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s detention and trial. The goal is to secure Kanu’s release through pragmatic national reconciliation efforts.

“I sincerely apologise for previous missteps, utterances, and ill will, particularly those involving my constituent and brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Hon. Aguocha stated, “I am confident that a political resolution can address all parties’ grievances while also fostering greater understanding and unity within our country.”

Former President Buhari welcomed Hon. Obi Aguocha and praised his humility and commitment to serving his constituents. He assured Hon. Aguocha that his approach was appreciated and reiterated his willingness to consider any political solution for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

Hon. Aguocha recently led a group of fifty House of Representatives legislators from various political and ethnic backgrounds to sign a letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The letter requests that the President instruct the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Lateef Fegbemi, SAN, to invoke Section 174(1)(c) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, as amended, and Section 107 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. This action is designed to lay the groundwork for achieving the desired result.

This meeting is an important part of a larger initiative aimed at finding a quick political solution to the issues surrounding Nnamdi Kanu’s detention and trial. The goal is to secure his release while also encouraging dialogue and non-contentious approaches to tackling complex national issues.
