Sports Minister To NFF: Hire Top-Class Foreign Coach For Super Eagles.
Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has directed the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to seek a top-tier foreign coach to improve the Super Eagles.
Following the Super Eagles’ poor performance in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, the NFF announced a few weeks ago that it would appoint a foreign technical adviser.
Enoh stated that the new coach must have a personality that can command the players’ respect while also ensuring the team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup final.
“It must be a name that will inspire the spirit of our country,” Enoh told Eagle7 FM.
“He must be a first-rate coach with a track record and pedigree who will gain the respect of our players.”
The NFF is expected to name a new coach before the Super Eagles’ next competitive game in September.
In September, the three-time champions will face an unnamed opponent in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The draw for the qualifiers will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa early next month
