Property Consultant Advises Nigerians To Prepare For Rainy Days By Investing In UK Real Estates
Nigerians have been encouraged to consider investing in properties in the United Kingdom as another way to plan for the rainy days.
Yemi Edun, Director of Daniel Ford International, a UK-based property consultancy firm, stated that Nigerians owning property in the UK is an excellent investment and a perfect pension plan that can match inflation at any time.
Edun, speaking on the sidelines of the UK Property Roadshow Holding in Abuja, encouraged Nigerians to take advantage of the Berkeley Groups’ opportunities to own properties in the UK.
Edun stated, “We will not get involved in anything detrimental to property. As a result, this is encouraging Nigerians to purchase homes in the United Kingdom. Yes. As an option.
“As an investment option. As a second home. As a form of compensation for their currency’s ongoing depreciation.
“And you are asking me who buys? We have people who deal with inheritance money, divorce settlement, emerging technology, farmers, bankers, and so on.
“They buy for a specific amount. You are aware that in another ten years, that property will have doubled or tripled.
“It is a good pension plan so that when you retire, your income will be enough to keep up with inflation. Because imagine you buy a property and receive a rent of two million Naira. Two million naira is a large sum of money.
Edun explained why London should be of particular interest, saying, “London is special. One of the reasons people visit London and do not experience cultural shock is because of their long-standing connection.
“Most Nigerians can travel to London and you will not know he is a foreigner. So English language, schools, medical, lifestyle, football, and it is only six hours away.”
He said the Roadshow helps to remove some of the barriers by allowing prospective buyers to meet with developers such as Berkeley Groups.
He went on to say, “We have come with what I call the buffet of properties that we have hand-picked, you know, especially for them, and negotiated good deals that they would not be able to get themselves.”
The Berkeley Group is a leading UK property firm that trades on the London Stock Exchange.
