CUPP Exposes Plot To Frame Ugochinyere For Murder, Kidnapping, Gun Running

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has raised concerns about an alleged plot by a high-ranking figure in the Rivers State crisis to falsely accuse Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the spokesman for opposition lawmakers under the auspices of G-60, of crimes such as murder, rape, kidnapping, and gun running.

The CUPP stated that it received intelligence to frame him for his stance on the Rivers crisis, the defence of democracy, and the principles of proper intra-party procedures.

According to CUPP spokesperson Mark Adebayo and Secretary General, some influential individuals in Rivers politics are opposing Ugochinyere’s efforts to expose societal issues and undermine democracy in the state.

This includes unconstitutional attempts to halt constitutional governance, destabilise Governor Sim Fubara, and hijack the PDP headquarters.

The opposition coalition urged the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate the Intel and ensure that no unit of the Police Force, both in the FCT and at headquarters, is involved in any alleged attempt to frame the leading opposition lawmaker, which will be met with widespread public condemnation.

The group vowed that if it is true, they will not stand by and let anyone harm one of their own, the people’s messenger.

The opposition parties also praised Ugochinyere’s pro-democracy struggles, advocacy, and numerous battles in Rivers and Kano States, stating that this is what every right-thinking democrat and party member should do in defence of the public interest, peace, stability, and progress of Nigeria.

The group went on to say that they are plotting against Ugochinyere because of his stance on “exposing the plot to undermine democracy in Rivers and exposing the plots to destroy the opposition parties, especially PDP National, by some PDP members with one leg in PDP and one in APC,” adding that their desperate attempt is to silence his voice and destroy his shining reputation.

After the CUPP central committee meeting, opposition leaders informed the CP of the FCT command, Ben Igwe, and IGP Egbetokun, to investigate the authenticity of the shocking developments. If true, the opposition families in Nigeria will unite to resist such a fabricated attack or alleged moves to frame one of the shining lights of Nigeria, the CUPP stated.
