Zulum To Speak At UN Dialogue On Education Transformation In Africa

Prof. Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State, is among the dignitaries scheduled to speak at the 2024 Edition of the Africa Dialogue Series (ADS 2024), which will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York from May 6th to May 24th, 2024.

According to a UN website publication, the “Africa Month” programme aims to mobilise action by leveraging science, technology, and innovation to transform education in Africa. The dialogue will be attended by Governor Zulum, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, Ms. Cristina Duarte, UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Special Adviser on Africa, and a large number of other stakeholders.

This year’s dialogue series is themed “Education through Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Africa We Want.” It will focus on achieving a concerted Africa-centered policy shift that is required to accelerate the transformation of the continent’s educational landscape.

According to the statement, the ADS 2024 will culminate in a High-level Policy Dialogue, which will be attended by several African ministers, Heads of Regional Economic Communities, young people, senior government and UN officials.

According to the statement, the high-level segment will serve as a forum for in-depth discussions, with policy recommendations to help accelerate the continent’s progress towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Faki Mahamat, will also attend the High-level Policy Dialogue and deliver closing remarks to conclude “Africa Month.”

Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, and H.E. Dr. Monique Nsanzabaganwa, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, will introduce their perspectives on the dialogue.
