Emma Ogosi, a veteran guitarist, singer, and music producer, does not appear to have grown tired of making music, a calling he pursued after abandoning a seemingly promising career in the Nigerian Air Force with solid German training.
From his time in his first band The Expensives, formed around 1967 when he was 26 years old, and playing at the celebrated wedding of IBB and Maryam in 1969.
Emma Ogosi, a former producer at NTA Benin, is unlikely to stop making music at POGO Limited, an offshoot band of his.
By the way, Pogo Limited was Emma Ogosi on guitar, Pat Finn Okonjo on vocals, and Arigo on bass.
Pogo Limited’s only album, “We Shall Win,” was released under EMI in 1978.
Ogosi kept moving and, in 1981, collaborated with ace drummer and music producer Laolu Akins of the famous BLO to release the disco country album “Nobody Knows.”
Akins produced and directed Phonodisk’s six-track album.
In 1987, Ogosi released another album called Sweet Love, which included the seminal hit song Ebeawele m di, originally performed by his kinsman Okonkwo Adigwe, as well as the rocking Oyande. Polygram, which is now Premier Music, released Sweet Love.
Never tired, Ogosi took up Evi Edna and produced several hit albums, including the world-famous Happy Birthday, which was released in October 1988.
In 2022, Ogosi is still firing on all cylinders with sound, having recorded more songs, 11 of which were collected in the album Osinanga, which was released worldwide on August 26, 2022.
Osinanga features remakes of songs such as Ebeawelem di from Sweet Love and Orindo from Nobody Knows, as well as newer artists.
Other tracks associated with Ogosi include Why, I shall make it, and we shall work it out, among others.
Emma Ogosi has been running around Lagos shooting Senyiwa, his new track, with multi-media music producer Righteousman as director. He is seen squaring off with younger dancers.
