Akindele Has Paid Her Dues, Says Actress Carol King
Friends and colleagues of Funke Akindele, an actress and filmmaker, have rallied behind her amid allegations of abandonment.
The allegations come on the heels of actress Jumoke Aderounmu’s death last Saturday at the age of 40 from an undisclosed illness.
The late Aderounmu appeared in Akindele’s rave-inducing production, Jenifa’s Diary. Following her death, a brother of the deceased shared a post on his Instagram account, stating that someone who had ignored his late sister during her ordeal was now mourning her on social media, with many assuming he was referring to Akindele.
The award-winning filmmaker then went on Instagram to hold a live session where she addressed the allegations. During the session, an emotional Akindele burst into tears.
Carol King, a veteran actress, responded to the development in a post on her Facebook page, saying that, while she does not interfere in people’s affairs, seeing Funke Akindele cry because some people feel comfortable cursing her children was heartbreaking.
“This woman has paid her dues over time; her life and struggles have been documented for all to see. It is completely abhorrent how some people use social media to settle imaginary scores. If you have a problem with someone, how does that translate into dragging, abusing, and cursing their family?
“Funke Akindele, you are aware of your source…”He will not allow any evil to come upon you or yours, and whatever measure they give you, good or bad, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, the Lord will heap upon them; as long as you do God’s Will, He will preserve your joy and cause it to overflow.
