Ondo Guber: Gov. Aiyedatiwa Says There’s No Vacancy, I Have The Structures, People, Competence
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has told other candidates for the state governorship election that there is no vacancy, stating that he has the structures, people, and competence to become the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer in the April 20th primary election.
The Governor, who spoke on Friday after the screening exercise in Abuja, stated that his decision to continue as Governor of Ondo State was motivated by the people’s yearnings and aspirations, rather than his ambition or desire.
In response to his critics, he stated, “I should simply advise them to repent and try to go to the field and work. If they want the seat and it is not vacant, they are doing everything they can to get it.
“You see, we are all Ondo State indigenes, and we are all qualified to run for Governor of Ondo State, but there is already a Governor. That is what I am saying: I have the structures, the people, and the competence.
“In the few months since I took office, they have seen that this is the best man for the job. Yes, because of the state’s peace and some of the programmes that have been implemented for the people.
“As I said the other time, my coming out to continue as Governor of Ondo State was not borne of my ambition or desire, but because of the yearnings and aspirations of the people; the endorsement of the traditional rulers, students, artisans, everybody; the community leaders, even the civil servants, everybody is happy with the current state (of affairs); peace and security for the day people, and they are going about their businesses without fear,” he said.
