Nigerian Govt Hopeful Of Better Power Generation, Transmission As Minister Says Rebuiling Process Ongoing
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has expressed hope for better power generation, and transmission, appealing to Nigerians to exercise more patience and trust in the President Bola Tinubu administration.
He maintained that the current temporary pain would soon turn to prosperity.
Adelabu maintains that with the trust and confidence in the government, the phase Nigeria is passing through today is a phase of transformation and reform, which will come with some little pains.
Adelabu expressed this on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid-el-Fitri prayers at the W.O. Lawal Eid Prayer Ground, Iyana Adeoyo, Ring Road, Ibadan.
He charged the people to see the ongoing transformation as a journey and not a destination, expressing confidence that the country is gradually getting close to where all desires and lives of all Nigerians will be changed for the better.
He added that the government is embarking on a lot of infrastructural projects that will bring succour to Nigerians and remove all the pains that they have been experiencing all these while.
He said the government is doing all within its powers to address the root cause of problems facing the country, especially in the power sector.
According to him, “I want to plead with Nigerians to exercise some patience, to exercise a lot of trust and confidence in this government, that the phase Nigerian is passing through today is a phase of transformation and reform and we believe that with reform, with transformation there come some little pains.
“So they should please be patient with this government, let us endure the pain which I believe will be temporal and very soon we will start enjoying the gain of all these transformations. It is not easy to rebuild, the damage didn’t happen in a day, so the rebuilding is a process.
“Let us see our transformation as a journey and not a destination. I am very confident and sure that gradually, we will be getting close to where we all desire and the lives of all Nigerians will be changed for the better.
“Government is embarking on a lot of infrastructural projects that will bring succour to Nigerians and remove all the pains that they have been experiencing all these while.
“This infrastructure included in this infrastructure is power which I oversee the ministry. I am assuring Nigerians that we are committed to making things happen in the power sector.
“The problem is over 50 years, so we are doing everything possible to refix everything that has been damaged in the sector, including all the infrastructural deficits that we have across the segment in the power sector value chain.
“We are going to resolve the issue in generation, transmission and distribution. This will take time but we believe that very soon we are going to get to the Eldorado.
“Also, Nigerians should start seeing the good life once again. We have seen the exchange rate go up to as high as N1,900/N2,000 per dollar, but today dollar is less than N1,200. So this is the kind of relief that is awaiting all Nigerians and we will all live to enjoy all the benefits of this transformation process.
“We should trust and have confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu and his cabinet, you voted us in, based on trust and confidence. Let us maintain the trust, let us maintain the confidence and all our expectations will be met.
“So I want to congratulate every Nigerian today, we should be rejoicing ahead of the gains that are coming from all these transformation activities.”
