Plateau State Honours Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey, A Supreme Court Justice

Mr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State, has praised the exceptional leadership qualities of Honourable Justice Jummai Hannatu Chundung Sankey, Nigeria’s newly appointed Supreme Court Justice.

He described Justice Sankey as a shining example of humility and excellence, as well as a proud daughter of Plateau who was known for her unwavering dedication and integrity throughout her successful career.

Governor Mutfwang then joined other dignitaries at a dinner hosted by the Plateau State Government in honour of Justice Sankey at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, where he praised her extraordinary courage, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to upholding fairness and justice in public service.

“This evening is a celebration of resilience in the face of adversity, as exemplified by Justice Sankey’s unwavering commitment even after the tragic events of 1966 that took her father’s life. We appreciate her commitment to discipline throughout her life and career.

Governor Mutfwang urged the people of Plateau to unite in fostering the state’s development and in championing the success of Plateau’s sons and daughters, devoid of divisive tendencies.

He also thanked the judicial community for their unwavering support during difficult times, and praised the Supreme Court for issuing a landmark decision in Plateau’s case, which increased public trust in the judiciary.

Former Plateau State Governor Senator Jonah David Jang, Gbong Gwom Jos Da. Jacob Gyang Buba, and other distinguished guests praised Justice Sankey’s tenacity and foresight in upholding justice, fairness, and the integrity of the judiciary.

Justice Sankey responded by attributing her appointment to divine grace and dedicating it to her late parents, particularly her mother, for their unwavering support.
She thanked Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Plateau elders, and the clergy for their prayers and support during difficult times. She encouraged young lawyers to be fair, just, and diligent in their work.
