World Health Day: Daurama Foundation Offers Free Healthcare In Abuja.
In celebration of World Health Day, the Daurama Foundation provided free health consultation and care in Abuja.
On April 6th, 2024, the Foundation demonstrated its commitment to advancing accessible healthcare by hosting a sponsored community-focused event at Emab Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent under the global theme “My Health My Right.”
People from all walks of life gathered in the plaza’s vibrant atmosphere to prioritise their health. They eagerly participated in critical health check-ups and absorbed information during engaging health education classes.
These talks, led by Medform Medical Limited experts, covered a wide range of health topics, empowering people to take proactive steps for their own well-being. Alongside these enlightening discussions, attendees received handy health flyers filled with practical tips for healthier living. These efforts underscored the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring that communities have the tools and knowledge they need to lead healthier lives.
Dr. Samira Buhari, the dedicated Founder of Daurama Foundation, led this compassionate initiative, championing the belief that everyone, without exception, is entitled to quality healthcare. Reflecting on the positive impact of the day,
Buhari said: “The event demonstrated the strength of collective health awareness. Seeing hundreds actively engage in their health journey reaffirms our mission to ensure health is a basic right, not a privilege.”
During the event, an impactful moment occurred when a participant discovered dangerously high blood pressure levels and received immediate medical attention, demonstrating the event’s ability to save lives. Grateful for the opportunity, they expressed, “This event has been a blessing. Without it, I wouldn’t have known about my health. Now, with proper care and medication, I can take control of my well-being.”
Dr. Gregoire Williams, leading the Medform Medical Limited team, expressed pride in contributing to such a meaningful initiative. He said, “We are honoured to be part of this transformative event. Offering essential health services to the community aligns perfectly with our goal of promoting healthier lives.”
The success of the event highlights the Foundation’s steadfast commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. Through initiatives like this, the Foundation continues to address healthcare accessibility gaps and strives to create a healthier future for all.
Samira Buhari founded the Daurama Foundation, which is dedicated to improving health outcomes and championing the rights of women and girls in Nigeria through advocacy, comprehensive education, and active community engagement. We work to tackle pressing issues that affect the well-being and rights of girls and women in the communities we serve. Our programmes aim to combat domestic violence, improve neonatal health, and promote menstrual health and hygiene.
